Former Bournemouth manager is close to landing Newcastle United job

Newcastle United’s new owners have been on the hunt for their next manager, but that hunt has been unsuccessful so far.

Virtually all Newcastle United supporters were pleased when the new ownership relieved Steve Bruce of his job last month, but they have yet to find his replacement. There were reports that ex-Arsenal and current Villarreal manager Unai Emery was in line to be the next man to take the managerial reigns at Newcastle, but those reports appear to have gone stale.

So what’s next for those upon Tyne?

It appears Eddie Howe is what’s next.

Recent reports suggest that Newcastle and Howe are in advanced talks to make him the next manager of the famous — now extremely wealthy — club. Howe hasn’t had a job since leaving Bournemouth in August 2020.

Howe enjoyed a very successful tenure at Bournemouth, where he managed for eight years and took the club from League One to the Premier League. Bournemouth and Howe reached a mutual agreement that he would leave the club after they were relegated to the Championship following the 2019/20 Premier League season.

Given his track record with Bournemouth, there are many positives Newcastle fans can take away from this potential hiring. Howe has proven he can do a lot with lesser players and the current players in Newcastle’s pool aren’t overwhelmingly talented, with a few exceptions.

Although, Howe shouldn’t have to worry about making do with lesser players for too long because Newcastle are now buyers, extravagant buyers at that. If an agreement is reached, Howe will provide a solid foundation for Newcastle to begin their climb back to the top of the footballing world.

Howe is already familiar with Newcastle players Callum Wilson, Matt Ritchie and Ryan Fraser as they all played under him at Bournemouth.

Expect a deal to be reached within the next few days as the new owners of Newcastle would like to have Howe in the dugout come the club’s match this Saturday against Brighton.
