New England Revolution Find Small Depth, More Needed
The New England Revolution took little time narrowing down their roster to 19 players after MLS Cup 2014. Since that time, New England has acquired two new players to strengthen their roster, midfielder Jeremy Hall and forward Tristan Bowen. While both make New England’s roster stronger, there is still a lot of work left to be done.
New England gave up a 2015 MLS SuperDraft fourth-round pick to secure the services of the former Toronto FC midfielder. While the Revolution do not have glaring holes in their midfield, adding Hall to their roster only provides more depth.
Hall is well-traveled in MLS. Since coming into the league six seasons ago, Hall has spent time with New York Red Bulls, Portland Timbers, FC Dallas and finally TFC. The Revolution hope to keep his services for the next few seasons. New England hope to use Hall at both midfield and defense, something that Jermaine Jones knows all about.
The management of the Revolution are excited to add Hall to their club and know he can be good to keep things rolling as next season comes in a few short months.
“To give up a fourth-round pick to get a player of Jeremy Hall’s ability, we feel it was an easy one for us,” said Revolution general manager Michael Burns.
Prior to coming to MLS, Hall was a member of the United States U-17 Residency Program in Bradenton, Florida. He played in three games at the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Championship, scoring once while helping the U.S. reach the knockout stages of the tournament.

Aside from the addition of Hall, the Revs added depth to their severely depleted forward spot. Bowen goes down in MLS history has the first ever homegrown player to sign a contract in the league. Similar to Hall, Bowen is a six-year veteran of the league, albeit not as well-traveled, Bowen spent time with the LA Galaxy, Chivas USA and Seattle Sounders.
The Revolution need to find more depth besides Bowen to boost their shaky forward depth. Charlie Davies is the number one option going into the 2015 MLS season. Aside from Davies, New England needs to figure out who else will rise up and support the Revolution attack.
New England’s additions solve small problems, but the team still needs to do a lot more to prepare for next season and make their attempt at an MLS Cup return.
