Liverpool talk on official website regarding Barcelona & Dembele news

Liverpool has taken to their official website to talk about their potential interest in Ousmane Dembele of Barcelona. They didn’t deny the news though!

Ousmane Dembele has been linked with a transfer to Liverpool in the last few days and it has been reported that the Reds will submit a bid to Barcelona in the coming weeks regarding a potential January transfer for the France international.

Since completing a lucrative transfer to the Catalan club from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund as a replacement to Neymar, the 21-year-old’s career has been marred with injuries. Moreover, off-field and disciplinary issues this season have forced Barcelona to take drastic decisions regarding one.

One of them was taken by Ernesto Valverde ahead of the Real Betis. The 54-year-old left the Frenchman out of his 19 man squad for the game after he went AWOL ahead of the Spanish champions’ final training session before the clash.

What’s more is that Dembele has fallen down the pecking order after not being able to carry his form of the season’s start. Philippe Coutinho has been preferred to him over the left wing whereas Rafinha replaced the injured Lionel Messi in the last few matches before the 31-year-old was declared fit.

However, the Reds have taken to their official website to agree with an article published on the Liverpool Echo claiming that they are not interested in signing Ousmane Dembele unless there are enough injury troubles between now and the transfer window. Jurgen Klopp said:

“If crazy things happen then maybe we have to think new but I don’t expect that. In the moment we have each position twice, three times and sometimes four times covered. I don’t think there is any reason to try to do something really big like bring in another striker. We have all that we need. Our job now is to use the quality that we have and to work with it because one player doesn’t change it.”

The former Mainz and Borussia Dortmund manager is of the belief that the Reds have enough depth and quality in their existing squad to challenge for the silverware during the business end of this season after spending over 150 million pounds on recruiting newer players in the summer transfer period.

Should Barcelona let Ousmane Dembele leave if he continues to cause troubles?
