Marco Asensio’s comments about Real Madrid don’t sound good
Marco Asensio’s performances of late have been on disparity with the quality he has shown in recent years and it’s a worrying sign, more so after his comments.
Real Madrid star Marco Asensio had been tipped to replace Cristiano Ronaldo after the Portugal international departed for Juventus a few months back. The trust put in the 22-year-old was immense after the performances that he had displayed in the Whites’ shirt over the last two years under Zinedine Zidane.
From scoring a glorious stunner against Sevilla on his debut in Trondheim during the UEFA Super Cup to getting some magnificent goals against the likes of Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern Munich, his displays compelled the defending European champions to put their trust in the young winger as a replacement to Ronaldo.
However, Marco Asensio’s recent comments about the ongoing situation at Real Madrid signal otherwise and make it distinctly visible that Los Blancos may have made a fault by not going for Eden Hazard or any other player in the summer transfer window. Let alone being a leader, the Spain international’s performances have been poor as well.
Marco has scored only two times this season in 17 appearances and if things keep on going in this direction, it will not come as a surprise if he does not touch double digits in the goal count by the end of the season. It clearly looks like the forward is refusing the challenge at Real Madrid and is content by playing a fringe role and sitting on the bench earning money.

At a club where the standards are as lofty as they can ever be, there can be no waiting for somebody to pull up his socks and if Marco Asensio cannot come up with an output until the end of the season then the Whites might as well sell him while his stock is high. Moreover, the club cannot keep doting around a player in a position as glamorous as the attack.
While it might be a drastic step if it is taken in the summer, Marco Asensio should be asked to go unless there is a visible change in him, and especially in his attitude, even if that means sending him on a loan deal to a team where he can be a central figure and actually get a reality check regarding his quality. Eden Hazard, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe should be made primary targets again because the left wing is looking unsecured at the moment.
