Arsenal: Unai Emery may not need to replace Danny Welbeck

Danny Welbeck suffered an unfortunate injury when Arsenal came up against Sporting in the Europa League. The game finished at a stalemate, but the main talking point was naturally Welbeck’s injury. Nobody wants to see a player ruled out in that manner, so naturally, everybody wishes Welbeck the best.
However, Unai Emery faces a different kind of dilemma. As the head coach, it’s important that he focuses on what is best for the team. There have been talks lately that Arsenal would pursue a swap deal with AS Roma, but now Express is reporting that Eddie Nketiah may be given the chance.
In case you didn’t know, the striker definitely has what it takes to make it at Arsenal. On his debut, he came off the bench and scored within his first touch against Norwich. He also scored the winning goal in extra time of that match, so you could say it was a productive debut.
However, he’s not been given the chance to build upon this foundation. He rarely features for the first team nowadays, even in the Europa League. And when he does, he isn’t given enough time to prove himself to the fans and manager.
Obviously, it’s difficult for Nketiah, given the fact that Aubameyang and Lacazette have first-team spots nailed on. While an injury is never a positive, Nketiah will feel like he can prove himself in the Europa League now.
Who knows? Perhaps the unfortunate injury of Welbeck could be the mark of a new era for Nketiah. I’m sure that Welbeck will be cheering on his attacking counterpart, as he is the type of guy who wants to get the best out of everyone.
If things don’t go to plan with Nketiah, then Arsenal will have the January transfer window to strengthen. And with Patrik Schick a big contender to join, Arsenal aren’t short of options.
