Arsenal fans won’t forget about this exceptional midfielder’s display
Arsenal fans are still excited about their performance against Manchester United.
And why wouldn’t they be? Arsenal finally managed to break the hoodoo by beating a big six side away from home and have shown even further progress under Mikel Arteta. As far as Manchester United are concerned, it appears to be the same old story; one step forward and two steps backwards.
As Thomas Partey won the man of the match award, and rightly so, it left one midfielder a little under-appreciated. Of course, this is not to take away from Partey’s fine display, but Mohamed Elneny also put in an incredible shift.
Many fans were confused at first to see Elneny in the starting XI ahead of Granit Xhaka, since the Swiss international is often the glue that holds the team together especially in big games. However, the decision paid off for Mikel Arteta.
Elneny was incredible throughout the entire ninety minutes and he was bursting with energy throughout. In fact, past the 90th minute he was busting a gut more than certain Manchester United players, despite them chasing the equaliser.
It is a tale of Mohamed Elneny’s career and to be honest, it is something that I myself have been guilty of. He is one of our most underappreciated players and we as fans truly should value him for always showing up and putting in maximum effort whenever he is called upon.
Well, he is finally getting that appreciation. It is a well known fact that football twitter is an Arsenal fan dominated sphere and when the club wins, especially against a big six club, boy do we know about it. It was great to see the Egyptian midfielder involved in some of the appreciation, for it was well warranted.
