2. Aubameyang and Lacazette were woeful

It was another goalless game for Alexandre Lacazette which is to be expected, really. He has gone a whole year without scoring an away goal for Arsenal in the Premier League and he didn’t do much to turn this hoodoo around today. In fact, he was given a few chances to score but squandered every single one of them.

The same can be said for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who played equally as bad if not worse than his French strike partner. Rustiness can be expected from Aubameyang but it’s not an excuse to bottle the chances he was given today. It was not a captain’s display.

3. At least Martinelli tried, for crying out loud

Gabriel Martinelli failed to get on the score sheet or provide an assist in this match but I can applaud the Brazil international for giving his all. He made the most number of tackles in an Arsenal shirt and he tried to bring his teammates forward as much as possible.

Martinelli is only young and he can’t carry an attack on his own. Especially given the price tags of both Aubameyang and Lacazette, you would expect them to give him a helping hand. They just seemed lethargic and took shots when they came to them, and we all know how those turned out.

Hats off to Martinelli.
