Arsenal: This Barcelona goalkeeper is the perfect Leno backup

One area of business this summer for Arsenal may be purchasing a new backup goalkeeper. If so, they are on the right lines with this Barcelona star…

The summer transfer window is fast approaching, which may be difficult to believe. After all, it feels like 72 years since we last watched Arsenal play. However, the recent return of the Bundesliga only proves that football is making a comeback, and so will the transfer window.

Your guess is as good as mine as to what Arsenal will do in the transfer window. It’s always difficult to predict and, in all honesty, I don’t think even the board knows what they want half of the time.

However, it’s always fun to speculate, right? Judging by today’s news, I can only assume that a backup goalkeeper is on the radar of the Arsenal hierarchy. According to Express, they are eyeing a move for the Barcelona goalkeeper Neto.

Neto was signed by Barcelona but it’s been difficult for him to break into the starting XI. This should not discourage the Gunners from signing him though, because as we all know, there aren’t many goalkeepers that would better Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Just looking at the Germany national team proves that Bernd Leno certainly doesn’t.

Neto ages at 30, meaning that for his position, there is still plenty of time. In fact, you could argue he is actually in the peak stages of his career. That said, he will consider his options going forward.

Playing for Arsenal, he must know, he would not be a first-team regular. He would merely act as a backup to the talented Bernd Leno, who seems to save the Gunners’ skin on a regular occurrence. That said, an option to explore would be to sell Emiliano Martinez, or at least loan him out, making way for Neto to take his spot without any conflict.

Do you think Neto would be a good option for Arsenal in the summer?
