Inter Milan has big plans for this summer’s transfer window, but they will need to sell some players to make those big plans a reality.

Most of these moves won’t have much of an impact on the squad because Inter already has replacements for the players or their replacements are incoming. Only one will negatively impact the squad, but the player has made his sale a necessity. Overall, these moves will help clear some roster space for Inter and fund a decent chunk of the budget they will need to fund their summer of fun.

Andrea Ranocchia

It has been a while since Andrea Ranocchia was a valuable member of the Inter Milan defense. He hasn’t started more than 7 matches for Inter since the 2014-15 season. He has been sent on loan twice since then and he didn’t make a single start for Inter in Serie A last year. Now Inter is reportedly adding Diego Godin to a defense that already includes Milan Skriniar, Stefan de Vrij, Miranda, and Ranocchia. That makes Ranocchia an unnecessary player to have at Inter.

There likely isn’t much of a market for Ranocchia. He hasn’t been particularly impressive in recent years, leading to his lack of playing time and his multiple loans. He is also 31 years old, which means we aren’t far from him declining even further.

Somebody would take him if they are really desperate for a starter or really need some depth at the position, but Inter shouldn’t be expecting to make much from the move. This is mostly just to clear some roster space and get his salary off the books. If he does actually bring in a transfer fee then that is just a bonus.
