Barcelona players offered their own money to sign Neymar
Barcelona players were more eager to bring back Neymar than they seemed…
Barcelona should have no regrets from the transfer window. They strengthened in the positions they needed to, including the biggest signing of the summer in Antoine Griezmann. However, they may wish to have signed Neymar sooner if this season is a disaster for them.
The Brazilian attacker was the hottest topic of discussion throughout the summer. It seemed inevitable that he would re-join Barcelona. He was open to a move but the Spanish side could not match the valuation which was set by Paris Saint-Germain.
According to Sport, Barcelona had all the help in the world when it came to funds. The report suggests that some Barca players even offered their own money in order to help the board make a sizeable enough offer.
Bringing Neymar back to Spain could easily go wrong, especially considering they invested heavily in Griezmann this summer. However, there is no denying that Neymar is one of the best players in the world so the excitement he would bring would be worthwhile for the Catalans.
He has a skill set which will make him a legend upon retiring. It seems that no matter which situation you put Neymar in on the pitch, he will come out of it with the ball at his feet. Well, either at his feet or in the back of the net, of course.
When he is at his best, he easily improves the PSG side. This was shown in the early days of his Parisian career when there was a lot of hope surrounding the club. They would go out and win most games by scorelines of more than three goals, Neymar being at the heart of many of them.
However, the negative side to Neymar’s personality can show through. He doesn’t like when things don’t go his way and he is known to throw tantrums. This caused a fallout with Edinson Cavani within his first season of being a Paris Saint-Germain player.
That said, the Barcelona dressing room is usually a calm place. Everyone knows that Lionel Messi holds the floor in certain situations and this is respected. It seems that the Barcelona squad are willing to welcome Neymar back with open arms, so there should be no problems in this regard.
