Liverpool: Thankfully Real Madrid cannot afford Sadio Mane

Liverpool fans can breathe a collective sigh of relief.

With the summer transfer window fast approaching, there will be a multitude of Liverpool stars that are the subject of interest elsewhere. After tearing apart the Premier League and claiming the title early on, while still *currently* holding the Champions League trophy, the calibre of players at Anfield will remind fans of their former glory days.

Truth be told, Jurgen Klopp has performed miracles at the helm. Granted, it may have taken him a while and many falls, including that infamous Champions League final against Real Madrid. But now he is at the top of the top, as are his players.

This is why it was no surprise to see that Sadio Mane, Liverpool’s only goal scorer in that match against Real Madrid, was a transfer target of Los Blancos. But now, according to the Daily Mail, the Spanish giants recognise that they won’t have the funds to sign Mane and may need to sell players instead of signing them.

This will come as splendid news to the Anfield faithful, although not many of them actually believed that Mane would move away, anyhow. I mean, why would he? He has everything he could possibly want in the Merseyside; a great manager, titles and a fanbase that supports him religiously.

Liverpool is in a great place to keep their star players this summer, and not only because of the Coronavirus pandemic. The Reds have a bright future ahead of them with the current calibre of players and it would take a lot (and I mean a lot) to persuade any of the first-team regulars to leave.

Of course, Liverpool will likely sell some of their players this summer. This is unavoidable, given the current state of the market and inevitable economic crisis. However, it’s reassuring to know that the board will have the freedom to decide, and will likely only remove deadwood players from the squad.

However, Liverpool must do all they can to accommodate Sadio Mane in the future as Zinedine Zidane has made his adoration of the Senegalese winger known, and just because he won’t sign him this summer, it doesn’t mean the footballing capital won’t be calling his name in the next transfer window.

Who do you think Liverpool will sell?
