Forget Aubameyang, this Arsenal legend offers a solution

Arsenal still haven’t sorted out Aubameyang’s contract.

Although Arsenal have suffered problems over the last decade, the sense of community is still stronger than ever. Perhaps because of, rather than in spite of the mistreatment of the club from the board, more and more legends have begun to raise their concerns and offer their two cents in the transfer market.

Of course, fans wlll be on board with this, especially when the helping hands come players who really do love the club, like Martin Keown. Rumour has it, the former defender has spoken out about the Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang situation and has this piece of advice.

He says that Arsenal should be keeping an eye on Danny Ings, according to Goal. Aubameyang is set to run out of contract at the Emirates Stadium in 2021, with fans eager for him to sign a contract.

I’m sure Keown would agree that the best-case scenario for Arsenal is that they tie the Gabon international down to a contract extension. However, if this is not possible due to financial constraints or whatever it may be, then Keown’s advice is worth listening to.

Danny Ings has made serious attempts to revamp his career since leaving Liverpool. He has had an excellent season with Southampton this term, scoring 20 goals and providing two assists. He is a clinical scorer and ageing at 27 years old, he is playing at the peak of his career.

If Arsenal were to sign Ings, then I’m certain the goals would continue to flow. It may take him a little bit of time to adjust to Arteta’s philosophy, but playing at Liverpool he grew accustomed to being part of a rebuilding project.

Again, to reiterate I believe Arsenal should focus their efforts on offering Aubameyang a contract in which he cannot refuse. However, if this fails then I do agree that Ings would be a nice plan B, alongside many other options on the market currently.

Do you think Arsenal should sign Danny Ings this summer?
