Lamine Yamal is the latest name added to a seemingly ever-growing list of injured players for Barcelona.

Yamal traveled to join the Spanish national team but has now had to leave the squad after tests done by the national team doctors confirmed a hip injury.

“Yamal has left the Spanish national team camp after being evaluated by the RFEF’s medical services,” read the statement sent by the RFEF. “It was determined that he will not be able to participate in the qualifying games for Euro 2024 against Scotland in Seville on Thursday and against Norway in Oslo on Sunday.”

The young forward sustained the injury during Barcelona’s 2-2 draw against Granada. A match in which the 16-year-old scored, making him the youngest scorer in La Liga history.

The fact that Yamal even traveled to Madrid to join Spain was a point of controversy given Barcelona released their own medical statement, revealing the injury.

Yamal was captured noticeably limping in the airport.

On his way back, the limp was still there.

Lamine Yamal joins the likes of Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and Jules Koundé as players missing due to injury. Fortunately for Yamal and Barcelona, the injury doesn’t look severe and should be fine by the time the international break ends.

Yamal has become an important part of a Barcelona side struggling to  put in good performances given the amount of starters out. He’s been starting in place of Raphinha and while he’s been kept in check by the opposition defense, he still has his moments and it’s evident there is a sense of anticipation whenever he has the ball.

Xavi could try to play it cautious with Yamal coming out of the break. Much of it will depend on if he can recover any of the players in time for the match against Athletic Bilbao. For those who have El Clasico circled on your calendar, his participation for that highly anticipated clash does not look to be in doubt.
