The January transfer window is called the “silly season” by some, but it’s serious business to clubs within the Premier League. While much of the rumor mill focuses on players entering England from abroad, quite a few transactions will take place between two Premier League clubs.
Of course, these transactions are the most risky because of their dual impact. An intra-league signing can provide the purchasing team a real boost with the arrival of new talent. Any transfer can do this. The added bonus of moves that involve two Premier League teams is that the purchase can rob an opponent of one of its stars. With one stroke of the pen you can strengthen your own team and deal a rival a potentially fatal blow.
So much attention is being paid to transfer targets who may come in to the Premier League from abroad so this article will focus on the more unique transfers that might happen between two EPL Clubs. Read on to find out which four Premier League stars might switch Premier League teams this January. Will your favorite side add a top player from a competitor? Or will your favorite Premier League side send your star packing to another EPL competitor?
Manchester United is the club that seems to be hot on the trail of the Senegalese striker. Southampton are vowing to put a fierce fight though, as they value Mane as a key part of their future success.

It’s easy to see why so many clubs are interested in Mane. He’s been <a href=https://playingfor90.com/2015/11/24/4-premier-league-stars-who-could-switch-epl-sides-in-january/"http://www.whoscored.com/Teams/18">Southampton’s highest rated attacker per Whoscored.com, narrowly edging Graziano Pelle. His three goals on season are second on the team only to Pelle and he ranks first on the campaign with four assists. He’s been a nightmare for opposing defenses with his shifty dribbling and eye for the incisive pass.

He has featured both in the No 10 role and out on the right for the Saints and his flexibility is part of the attraction for teams like United. He’s equipped with above average pace and vision which means he can impact the match in multiple ways. If you haven’t watched Southampton this year you should tune in just to watch Mane glide across the pitch.

While I think this transfer negotiation will go down to the wire I actually believe he’ll stay put. Southampton has sold too many of its best players as of late and will feel fan pressure to hang on to young Mane. I know that puts me in a minority, but I think he’ll remain on the south coast.

one start on the year for the Toffees and despite Martinez’s words to the contrary, doesn’t seem a big part of their future.

Middle and lower-tier clubs will be happy to jump in and try to get Mirallas on the cheap. <a href=https://playingfor90.com/2015/11/24/4-premier-league-stars-who-could-switch-epl-sides-in-january/"http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/621829/Monaco-Marseille-Kevin-Mirallas-January-race-West-Ham-Everton-Kevin-Mirallas-Transfer-News">West Ham, in particular is quite keen, but Premier League clubs will face quite a bit of competition from other leagues in Europe. They’ve seen the quality Mirallas has regularly displayed playing for Belgium and will want to see if he can recreate that magic on their pitches.

If another Premier League club can get their hands on Mirallas I think it will be an absolute steal. He’s got pace to burn and an astute eye for goal. As I’ve said before, his selfish play can be maddening for some, but I’d always rather coach belief out of a player than try to convince him that he’s good enough. He’s not a perfect player but I don’t have any doubt he could make a big difference if he ends up with the right Premier League club.

Ultimately I think Mirallas is headed abroad and that will be a shame. I will miss his marauding runs and ambitious efforts towards goal in the Premier League.

His recent banishment from the team over a row with the Tottenham fitness coach won’t endear him to many around the EPL, but someone will be willing to take a gamble on his substantial talent.

He’s got pace to burn and when he connects on a shot he can score goals in bunches. Unfortunately, he often resembles a Clydesdale on the pitch by running down the field with apparent blinders on. This can lead to terrific goals and it can also lead to horrific decisions that cause the crowd to groan in unison.

For Townsend to be successful he’s going to have to find the right fit. He will need a very patient manager and fan base that will be willing to watch him fail repeatedly before he catches fire. He needs that ultimate trust and freedom to move around the pitch without fear of negative repercussions. The more he thinks on the pitch the worse it gets.

Still, the talent level is certainly there to be an above average Premier League player. He didn’t make the England squad by accident. Some mid-table team will make an offer big enough to relieve Spurs of their problem child. Only time will tell if he can figure things out in a new environment.
<!—pageview_candidate—>
">
