Why Real Madrid boss Zidane is right to turn down Harry Kane

Rumour has it, Zinedine Zidane does not want Real Madrid to sign Harry Kane. While many will be quick to oppose, here is why the French boss is right…

Those who follow Real Madrid news closely will know that Harry Kane has been the topic of discussion over the last few weeks. Many think that Real Madrid needs to sign a long-term replacement for Karim Benzema, especially since Luka Jovic has failed in his first season in the footballing capital.

According to Don Balon, though, Zinedine Zidane has made it clear he does not want the club to sign Harry Kane. He feels like the Englishman would not bring anything to the club and at a time like this, when the market is bound to crash, clubs must be prudent in their transfer policies.

Many will be quick to jump on the bandwagon opposing Zidane’s decision. Obviously they will, Kane has won the hearts of many in his years at Tottenham. However, it’s important to discuss the other side of the discussion.

I’ll be the first to throw this one out there; Harry Kane has no drive. Like, no drive to win trophies, cups or anything for that matter. The only things he has won are personal awards, which shows he is at the wrong team in Spurs.

Even under Jose Mourinho, who is known for his prestigious trophy cabinet, it doesn’t look like they’ll win anything soon. But still, after being given many opportunities to leave, Kane remains a Spurs player.

Call this loyalty if you will, for that I respect him, however, I see Zidane’s argument in not signing him for this reason. To play for the biggest club in the world requires drive, especially to fill in for Karim Benzema who has won everything there is to win at club level.

Also, Harry Kane has had countless injury problems in the last few seasons, more than I am able to remember. This is largely why Tottenham have failed to win anything because their main striker has been out of action for so long. This is the last thing Zidane would want.

While Harry Kane is a proven goal scorer and one of the best in the world at that, if he is not on the pitch consistently then why should Zidane sign him? After all, he wants a striker he can rely on. Not someone who is injured more often than not.

Do you think Real Madrid should pursue Harry Kane?
