Being against Matteo Guendouzi shows Arsenal’s weak mentality

Why on earth are Arsenal fans against Matteo Guendouzi?

Over the last week, there has been an increased interest in the attitude shown by Matteo Guendouzi. This is to be expected, given his coming together with Neal Maupay. However, the fact that many fans are beginning to turn their back on Guendouzi is only indicative of the problem with Arsenal.

As a fan, I find it refreshing to see that there is still some sense of solidarity among the squad players. After all, Guendouzi’s anger with Maupay begun when the Brighton forward shoved his body into Bernd Leno, leaving him out for the rest of the season most likely.

This is why the young midfielder became frustrated, particularly after the final whistle when Arsenal dropped not just two but three points. I suppose my question is; what would the fans prefer, if he just dropped to the floor, maybe put out another meaningless apology tweet? No, that’s not good enough.

We need to start seeing some more REAL emotion from the players. Yes, the comments that Guendouzi reportedly made were a little bit embarrassing, but he’s only young. He’ll surely learn to put his temper to good use, but for now, the temper can be seen as a good sign and something to build on.

Football is not as vicious as it once was, I get that. It’s a good thing, too. However, when fans do show this innate reaction, it shows that they are putting their learned professionalism to one side and “fighting” (quite literally sometimes) for the badge. This is admirable.

The last thing Arsenal fans want to do is turn their backs on Guendouzi. After all, he is one of the only players out there that actually cares enough to put in some real effort. He is always chasing the ball and his energy never drops, because he genuinely wants those three points.

The fans must show solidarity with Guendouzi, so that other players know to take a leaf from his book.

What do you make of Matteo Guendouzi’s attitude?
