JAGUARS – The journey of Darrell Henderson to Duval begins today when he departs from Los Angeles.
According to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Jacksonville Jaguars picked up Henderson on Wednesday after the Los Angeles Rams discarded him on Tuesday.
Henderson ran for a paltry 283 yards on 70 runs in 10 games (seven starts), which serves as testimony to L.A.’s troubles on the ground and the surprise that came with Henderson being cut go. Despite Henderson’s departure, he remains the leading rusher for the Rams for the season. Despite this, Henderson will be moving on from a rushing offense that was ranked 31st in the NFL to the rushing offense that is ranked seventh in Jacksonville.
Henderson, who was selected by the Rams in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, is expected to be a good complement to the explosive Travis Etienne in the Jaguars backfield. Henderson will provide the Jaguars with a change of pace as well as an option to get tough yards up the middle. Henderson has played for the Rams for more than three seasons and 50 games. During that time, he has run for 1,742 yards and 13 touchdowns on 396 carries (4.4 yards per attempt).
Linebacker Justin Hollins, who had started five games for the Rams so far this season, was placed on waivers by the team on Tuesday and claimed by the Green Bay Packers the following day.
Henderson is going from a 3-7 Rams team to a 3-7 Jaguars club, but judging by a tweet he posted on Tuesday after he was released, it appears that he is excited to get a new beginning with his football career.
